The development of various genres in music characteristic of both Americas was marked by musical tradition of African immigrants. Gospel and blues emerged from African American spiritual, country & western from blues, jazz took some elements from spiritual music, especially "call and response".
The programme of Americas comprises of several thematic parts: spiritual music, gospel, pop, Latin American music, jazz and a selection of American contemporary art music and legendary songs of Better Middler, Nat King Colea, Connie Francis, Andrews Sisters.
